How Much Does Starlink Installation Cost – and What Does a Professional Installation Include?

starlink-installation-cost

Starlink is becoming an increasingly popular broadband option, particularly for homes and businesses in areas where conventional broadband is slow, unreliable or difficult to obtain.

Buying the Starlink equipment is only part of the process, though. The dish still needs to be positioned correctly, securely installed, connected to the property and set up so that the customer can make the most of the connection.

At Local TV Aerials & Satellites, professional Starlink installation starts from £200 + VAT, with any additional brackets, mounting equipment or networking requirements agreed before the installation takes place.

But what exactly are you paying for, and why can the price of one Starlink installation differ from another?

What Is Included in a Standard Starlink Installation?

A standard Starlink installation involves considerably more than simply putting the dish outside and plugging it in.

The first step is finding a suitable position for the Starlink dish. This means checking the proposed location for trees, buildings, chimneys and other obstructions that could interfere with the connection.

Once a suitable position has been identified, the dish can be securely installed and the Starlink cable routed from the dish to the router inside the property.

The installation also includes the necessary power connection and the setup and configuration of the Starlink router so that the system is ready to use.

A typical installation includes:

  • Starlink dish installation
  • Checking the site for possible obstructions
  • Selecting a suitable dish position
  • Routing the Starlink cable into the property
  • Connecting the dish to the router
  • Power connection
  • Starlink router setup and configuration
  • Final checks to make sure the system is operating correctly

For more information about the service itself, see our Starlink Installation Experts page.

How Much Does Professional Starlink Installation Cost?

Professional Starlink installations with Local TV Aerials & Satellites start from:

£200 + VAT

Additional equipment such as brackets, masts, clamps and specialist fixings is charged separately.

Any additional costs are agreed with the customer before the installation goes ahead.

No two properties are exactly the same, so the final cost will depend on what is required to install the system safely and effectively.

Why Do Starlink Installation Prices Vary?

A straightforward installation in an easily accessible position will naturally be different from an installation requiring specialist brackets, additional mast work or difficult access at height.

Factors that can affect the overall cost include:

  • Where the dish needs to be mounted
  • The height and accessibility of the installation position
  • Whether additional brackets or a mast are required
  • The distance between the dish and router
  • The amount of cable routing required
  • The construction of the property
  • Any additional Ethernet or Wi-Fi work required

The aim is to find a position that provides a reliable Starlink connection without making the installation unnecessarily complicated.

What If the Starlink Cable Is Not Long Enough?

This is something worth checking before installation.

One of the few practical problems we have encountered with Starlink installations has been customers ordering a cable that is too short for the position where the dish ultimately needs to be installed.

The best position for the dish may be some distance from the ideal position for the router inside the property.

It is therefore sensible to consider the complete cable route before ordering additional Starlink equipment.

A professional assessment can help identify a suitable dish position and cable route before permanent installation begins.

What Speeds Can You Expect From Starlink?

This is one of the most common questions we are asked.

There is no single guaranteed Starlink broadband speed. Performance can vary according to the Starlink service being used, location, network conditions and other factors.

From our own installation experience, we commonly see speeds of approximately 150Mbps to 280Mbps when systems are initially set up.

These figures should not be treated as guaranteed speeds. The performance of an individual Starlink connection will depend on the service supplied by Starlink and the conditions at the particular property.

It is also important to distinguish between the Starlink connection itself and Wi-Fi coverage inside the building.

A fast Starlink connection arriving at the router does not necessarily mean that every room in a large property will receive equally good Wi-Fi.

Improving Wi-Fi Around the Property

For some customers, installing Starlink is only the first part of creating a reliable internet connection throughout the property.

Large houses, thick walls, multiple floors, extensions and outbuildings can all make it difficult for a single Wi-Fi router to provide good coverage everywhere.

Local TV Aerials & Satellites can also supply and install networking equipment alongside a Starlink installation.

Options include:

  • Cat6 Ethernet cabling
  • Cat6A Ethernet cabling
  • Ethernet network switches
  • PoE and non-PoE network switches
  • Indoor Wi-Fi access points
  • External Wi-Fi access points
  • Standalone access points
  • Mesh Wi-Fi systems

This can be particularly useful for larger homes, rural properties, offices and buildings where reliable internet access is needed in several different areas.

Is Professional Starlink Installation Worth It?

Starlink has been designed to make initial setup relatively straightforward, and some customers will be perfectly comfortable setting up a simple installation themselves.

The situation becomes more complicated when the best position is on a roof, chimney, high wall or mast, or when the cable needs to be routed neatly and securely through the property.

A professional installation can also help where there are trees or buildings nearby and several possible dish positions need to be considered.

The objective is not simply to get the system working on the day it arrives.

A permanent installation should be securely mounted, correctly positioned and planned so that the dish, cabling and internal network work properly together.

Is the Installation Guaranteed?

Local TV Aerials & Satellites provides a full one-year guarantee on installation labour and on parts supplied by us.

This guarantee relates to our installation work and the equipment we supply, rather than the Starlink equipment and service supplied directly by Starlink.

Where Do We Install Starlink?

We provide professional Starlink installation throughout East and West Sussex, including the full BN postcode area, as well as selected areas of Surrey and Kent.

We work with homes and businesses looking for professional help with:

  • Dish positioning
  • Secure mounting
  • Cable routing
  • Router setup
  • Wi-Fi coverage
  • Ethernet networking
  • Mesh Wi-Fi systems
  • Indoor and outdoor access points

Planning a Starlink Installation?

If you already have Starlink equipment, or you are considering ordering a system, thinking about the installation position before work begins can prevent problems later.

A good Starlink installation should take account of the view of the sky, mounting position, cable route, router location and Wi-Fi requirements throughout the property.

Professional Starlink installation with Local TV Aerials & Satellites starts from £200 + VAT, with any additional mounting equipment or networking work agreed in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can you attend my property?

In most cases we can offer a same-day or next-day visit, with a two-hour arrival window so you’re not waiting in all day. Emergency TV aerial and satellite faults are treated as a priority, and we’ll always be honest about the earliest slot we can realistically make.

We don’t charge just to talk to you. We’ll usually visit, test the signal and give you a free, no-obligation estimate before any work is done. If you’re happy with the price, we can normally complete the installation or repair during the same visit. You’ll always know the cost upfront.

We’re based in the South East and regularly work across East Sussex, West Sussex and surrounding areas, covering both towns and rural locations. If you’re unsure whether we cover your address, just give us your postcode and we’ll confirm.

We install and repair TV aerials, satellite dishes, Freeview and Freesat systems, as well as multi-room TV points, TV wall mounting, Starlink and satellite broadband, communal systems, CCTV, Wi-Fi alarms, network cabling and home/office networking. If it involves reception, cabling or connectivity, we can usually help.

Most modern aerials will cope with digital services like Freeview and Freely without issue, but older or damaged aerials can struggle after the digital switchover. We can test your existing aerial using professional meters and advise whether a repair or upgrade will give you the best long-term reliability.

Yes. Break-up or pixelation can be caused by a misaligned aerial, a damaged dish, water-damaged cables, worn connectors or issues with boosters and splitters. We test the signal at your aerial and at each TV point to identify the fault, and most reception problems can be fixed during the first visit.

We install roof-mounted aerials, loft aerials and specialist high-gain or log-periodic aerials. Roof aerials usually give the cleanest signal. Loft aerials are suitable where access or appearance is an issue, but they can be more sensitive to interference. We’ll recommend what gives you the most reliable reception in your specific location.

  • Freeview (and the newer Freely-style services) use a standard TV aerial.
  • Freesat and Sky use a satellite dish.
  • Subscription services offer more channels and on-demand content.
  • Streaming services (Netflix, iPlayer, Prime Video, etc.) are delivered through your broadband, not your aerial or dish.
  • We can help you set up whichever combination gives you the best choice and the most stable signal.

Yes. We can add extra aerial or satellite points in bedrooms, kitchens, loft conversions and offices, and we can design proper distribution systems so that every TV gets a strong, balanced signal without interference. For satellite and Starlink systems we can also route new cabling neatly and safely.

Yes. We install and mount Starlink systems, providing safe cable routing into the property, secure brackets or poles, and integration with your existing Wi-Fi and network hardware. Starlink is especially useful in rural areas where broadband speeds are low or unreliable.

Yes. We install CCTV, Wi-Fi alarms, Ethernet cabling, access points, network switches and 4G/5G router setups. This allows us to give you a complete, reliable setup for TV, internet and security systems using one team.

All engineers are fully trained, insured and DBS-checked. Our team works to industry standards, uses modern equipment and follows best practice for safety and reliability. You’re always dealing with professional, experienced installers.

Yes. We design and maintain communal aerial and satellite systems, as well as IRS systems and commercial TV networks for flats, hotels, pubs, offices, gyms and other multi-screen environments. We regularly work with landlords, property managers and building contractors.

All new installation work comes with at least a 12-month guarantee on parts and labour. Many components carry longer manufacturer warranties. If anything related to our work goes wrong during the guarantee period, we’ll return and put it right.

Your engineer will arrive within the agreed window, discuss the issue with you and check access. They’ll test the signal, inspect your existing equipment, explain the options and confirm the price before starting. Once the job is done, they’ll retest everything, show you it working, and tidy up. Old or unsafe equipment can be removed if needed.
